Surfs Up

31 Jul

My boys have tons of birthday parties to go this month between family and friends.

I feel so guilty buying cards, when I have a whole closet full stamps and supplies to make a bazillion cards…… But I am finding it difficult to make some “cool” boy cards and at times get frustrated and go buy a store bought card….

I am challenging myself to think outside the box and make a few boy cards that are “cool”. Which means super duper simple…My 11 year old will be helping me, since it’s his friends that are getting older. I hope to share a few creations with you this weekend.

If you have some simple, clean, outside the box cards for boys, please leave me a comment with a link to your card for some inspiration.

Stamps: Surfafella by Stampingbella, PTI – Birthday Basics, CHF Grid Paper BG
Ink: Jet Black Staz-on, SU! Re-inkers, Copic glitter pens
Accessories: 3 small circles for the side of the image.

Have a great day!!!

Cast all your cares

29 Jul

Things have been super duper crazy around here. =) A lot of fun super duper crazy stuff though, so absolutely no complaints!!!
I have some thoughts for you today…. A scripture that speaks to me about faith and trust.
“My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
This scripture challenges me to put all of my faith and trust in God. It also brings me great peace. Because I tend to make a muck of things when I’m in charge of my future. Regardless of storms, trials, and valleys that come and go, God is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8) and if His ways are higher than my ways and his ways are perfect than that takes pressure off of me.
Also Jeremiah 29:11 says:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. “
If His thoughts are higher than my thoughts and His thoughts towards me are of peace and not of evil…..than what do I need to worry about when adversity does come?!?!?!?
I need to put my faith and trust in Him and not in my own ablities.
Excerpt from: Encouragement for Life by Charles R. Swindoll
Who wants to be shipwrecked? No one. But the reality is, it happens, not only on the open sea, but also in life.
The secret of victory at sea is what you do ahead of time in calmer waters. If your life is storm-free as you read this, I urge you to take advantage of the peaceful lull. Spend time in God’s Word. Deepen you walk with Him through prayer and personal worship. Then, when the inevitable winds of adversity begin to blow you’ll be ready to respond in faith, rather than fear.
I hope you are having a fantabulous week and will talk soon!

Cast All Your Cares

10 Jul

I found this wonderful stamp set in my collection. I used it a few times and then put it away and forgot about it. Well I pulled this set out again and I love it! All the images in this set are beautiful and fun to watercolor!
I just love 1 Peter 5:7. Paper Trey Ink has so many wonderful stamp sets and I seem to keep going back to Everyday Blessings again and again.
Thoughs for the day:
The word PEACE comes to mind when I see this cottage. I see myself in Ireland at this little cottage near the coast relaxing, talking with the locals, listening to their stories and then the word “REALITY” comes crashing in as I hear the alarm going off, and then we’re off getting the kids fed and ready to go to school, traffic jams, deadlines, homework, and oh my goodness I need to make dinner. This can sometime be a snap shot of our lives. It seems hard to have Peace in our lives when we are going 95 mph every second of the day.
Did you know that we can have Peace on the inside when there is chaos all around us on the outside?!?!?
But how? The Bible gives the answer: “In quietness and confidence shall be your strength” Isaiah 30:15 (NKJV)
True Peace comes when we take the time to sit down with God and allow Him to calm us. We seek God’s face to spend time with Him and Him alone. We pour out our concerns to Him and wait for His reply. And as he comforts and assures us, that He has everything under control, we know that all will okay. Then and only then can we have His Peace.
It sounds so simple, doesn’t it? The hard part is doing it. So many things compete for our attention. At times it may feel impossible. But God would never ask us to do something that we are unable to do. John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
If we seek His face and not his hand, and thank Him for His faithfulness, then His Peace will flood us. That supernatural peace will even guard our minds and hearts.
What a blessing when we are calm and our minds are not whirling with all kinds of anxious thoughts.
Want peace? Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28
I hope you have a peaceful day in the midst of your busy life!
