I saw this card sketch some where on SCS. I can’t for the life of me figure out where it originated. I think it is such a wonderful fun and simple sketch. I used some of my favorite things on this simple card. The yummy May Arts silk ribbon….seriously-this ribbon rocks. Cosmo Cricket DP….and oldie but goodie. Did you see all the new yummy CHA peeks of the New Cosmo Cricket papers….oh they are too adorable…Love um!!!

Have a super duper Happy Friday to you!

The cat is finally out of the bag. I am over the moon with excitement!!! What is the excitement you might ask…. Well today is the first sneak peek of my first illustrated stamp set with Gina K Designs. (Squeal!!!)
First off……I am so thankful to God for this opportunity. It all started with my friend Keri who encouraged me to submit some of my doodles. Keri suggested Gina K and it was the perfect fit. (Talk about God’s perfect timingLOL!) Gina K is sweet inside and out and I have enjoyed working with her. She has been very patient with me through the whole process. (It is an amazing process by the way.) I can’t contain my excitement!
I haven’t received my stamp set yet (it is on its way – I’m ready to mug the mail man….LOL! Ok not really but you all know what I mean!). I am adding the links to Gina’s amazing design team. They have made beautiful cards all week and today they are show casing “Sweetest Blessings” and “One free with 3”. I am on cloud 9 seeing the magic they created using the sweetest blessings stamp set. Amazing artists!
Gina also made an amazing digi-paper pack called “Sweet as Sugar” that the Design Team is showing. Pretty awesome stuff. I can’t wait for mine.
Thank you for sharing in my excitement today and the release party is tonight from 7:00- 10:00 PM central time. In our member company forum- click here. We’ll have contests, challenges, lots of Design Team sneak peeks and so much more.
I will be joining the festivities on and off tonight. I hear it is loads of fun! My littlest Samuel (age 7) is having minor dental surgery tonight and I will be taking care of him making sure he is comfortable….and checking out the release party. Hope to see you there.

Friends

18 Jan

Friends are one of the greatest gifts! I have been going through a book with my boys by John C. Maxwell called “The Choice Is Yours”. It is a powerfully awesome book! The very first chapter is on Attitude. Attitude is a choice. “Life is 10% how we make it; 90% how we take it.”

I want to share with you some of my favorite quotes from this chapter.

“Let no feeling of discouragement prey upon you, and in the end you are sure to succeed.”
-Abraham Lincoln

“God chooses what we go through. We choose how e go through it.”

“We are either the masters or the victims of our attitudes, It’s a matter of personal choice – blessing or curse.”

There was an inspiring story that I want to share with you.

It’s all in your MIND

His name is Roger Crawford. He makes his living as a consultant and public speaker. He’s written two books, and travels all across the country working with Fortune 500 companies, national and state associations, and school districts.

Those aren’t bad credentials. But if that doesn’t impress you, how about his: before becoming a consultant, he as a varsity tennis player for Loyola Marymount University and later became a professional tennis player certified by the United Sates Professional Tennis Association. Still not impressed? Would you change your opinion if I told you Roger has no hands and only one foot!

Roger Crawford was born with a condition called ectrodactylism. When he emerged from his mother’s womb, the doctors saw that he had a thumb – like projection extending out of his right forearm. He had no palms. His legs and arms were shortened. And his left leg possessed a shrunken foot with only three toes. (The foot was amputated when he was five.) Roger’s parents were told by various medical professionals that he would never be able to walk, probably would not be able to take care of himself, and would never lead a normal life.

After recovering from the shock, Roger’s parents were determined to give him the best chance possible for living a normal life. They raised him to feel loved, to be strong, and to develop independence. “You’re only as handicapped as you want to be,” his father used to tell him. They encouraged him to do everything his heart desired. And they taught him to think positively.
“Something my parents never did was to allow me to feel sorry for myself, or to take advantage of people because of my handicap,” observes Roger.

Roger appreciated the encouragement and training he received from his parents, but I don’t think he really understood the significance of it or his achievements until he was in college and he interacted with someone who wanted to meet him. After receiving a phone call from a man who read about his tennis victories, Crawford agreed to meet him at a nearby restaurant. When Roger stood up to shake hands that were almost identical to his. That got Crawford excited, because he thought he had found someone similar to him but older who could act a his mentor. But after talking with the stranger for a few minutes, he realized he was wrong. Roger says: Instead, what I found was someone with a bitter, pessimistic attitude who blamed all of life’s disappointments and failures on his anatomy.

I soon recognized that our lives and attitudes couldn’t have been more different….He had never held a job for long, and he was sure this was because of “discrimination” – certainly not because (as he admitted) he was constantly late, frequently absent, and failed to take any responsibility for his work. His attitude was, “The world owes me,” and his problem was that the world disagreed. He was even angry with me because I didn‘t share his despair.

We kept in touch for several years, until it dawned on my that even if some miracle were suddenly to give him a perfect body, his unhappiness and lack of success wouldn’t change. He would still be at the same place in his life.

That man had allowed failure to seize him from the inside.

Chances are that the adversity in your life has been nowhere near as difficult as Roger Crawford’s has been. And that’s why his story is such an inspiration. Roger maintains, “Handicaps can only disable us if we let them. This is true not only of physical challenges, but of emotional and intellectual ones as well…I believe that real and lasting limitations are created in our minds, not our bodies.”

What an inspiring story! Have a super Happy Sunday!

(Don’t forget to stop by sometime next week for some exciting news!)

Thanks for stopping by,

Mary

We Grow Great…..

17 Jan

by dreams. I love this quote from Woodroe Wilson. =)
Ok so I found some super yummy paper by SEI as our local SBS. (You might see a few cards using these yummy papers.)
I had to use Gina K “Tree Silhouettes” with this paper. The tree was calling to be red. (lol!) Doesn’t your paper and stamps call out to you too? (Now be honest, I know they do!)
I used the Lg. Scallop Long Rectangle Nestie and the 2nd largest of the Sm. Reg. Rectangle Nestie set. I am loving the Long Rectangles scallop and regular.
This isn’t a card but a book marker. I had the idea of making a pocket card to showcase the book markers…..but haven’t had a moment to create the perfect pocket card yet. Any ideas? I’d love to hear.
Well I have some super fun exciting news to share with you sometime next week….so keep checking back to hear. It is HUGE!
Thanks for stopping by today. Many Blessings!

Teacher Gift

11 Jan

I made this gift for Samuel’s teacher. I used Nichole Heady’s template from Paper Trey Ink. Please visit Capture the Moment for Nichole’s template and tutorial. Thanks Nichole for the template and inspiration!!!
Samuel’s teacher loved the gift. It is a unique thoughtful gift, which was the first thing that grabbed my attention. I don’t own PTI Teachers stamp set, but I do own Making the Grade that is illustrated by Kim Hughes from Cornish Heritage Farms. I think it turned out pretty well, it has a more scrappy feel to it.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Sunday!!!
Many Blessings,
Mary

10 Jan

The boys and I went to the Baby Shower this afternoon. (No pictures yet.) We had to leave early. Samuel (my littlest) got sick at the shower, right before all the fun festivities began! UGH!!! Poor thing.

So we rushed home and he is doing much better. He not running a fever (thank God!). But he is laying down and I’m making him some yummy home made from scratch chicken noodle soup. Chicken noodle soup is so comforting when you don’t feel well.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the weekend and I will share pictures of the shower when Wendy passes some along to me. There were lot n lots of ladies there by the time we had to leave.

I have been having fun playing with some new stamps from Gina K and CHF. I hope to post some pictures of them next week. Love the new Gina K sets….too adorable. I also finally broke down and purchased my first Melanie Muenchinger set too. (Just so Sporty) I purchased this to make cards for my boys. My eldest Jeremy, who started 6th grade this year, is in band and is doing very well. He earned 1st chair. I am very proud of him. Well I saw the cute sweatshirt and jersey in the set and they will make cute encouragement cards for my boys and their friends.

Thanks for stopping by today. Many Blessings!!!
