Our tradition was to fly down from Alaska for Thanksgiving and Christmas at mom’s. This is our first year in many that we aren’t gonna be home at mom’s. This year we will be heading to our church’s candle light service and then off to Grandma’s.

Merry Christmas!

23 Dec
Merry Christmas!  I hope your day is filled with lots of love, family, joy and peace!
Like most of you, I will be taking some time off from blogging for the rest of this week, to spend with my beautiful family!  We have lots of fun things planned.  We are making sugar cookies today and I found a crown cookie cutter.  We are going to bring the cookie cut-outs and some icing to our family Christmas breakfast tomorrow.  Let the kids decorate their crown cookies any way they like.  I am pretty sure my Aunt will read Max Lucado’s – Cosmic Christmas to us. (It’s a family tradition)  Along with the Bible accounts of the Christmas story.  Gotta love this time of year.
The Christmas Story according to Luke 2:1-18:
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.  And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

Thank you for stopping by and when I return I will be drawing a Blog Candy winner. (see the post below to enter, you have until 12/28)  I will also post some pictures on the famly yatzee I made.  Too fun!

Blessings and Hugs,

Blog Candy and Birthday stuff

20 Dec

Samuel had a Birthday party to go to yesterday in between his rehearsals. This was the card I was able to whip out in under 5 mintues! Gotta love that!!!

We used some oldie but goodies. Samuel pulled out an older Stampin’ Up! stampset…toy box or something like that and he wanted me to use the robot. A couple of weeks ago I found some uber yummy Cosmo Cricket, Jack’s World paper pack for 75% off. Yes! 75% off that means I spent $3 on an awesome pack of paper. I know that Jack’s World is old, in context to the submission world of paper crafting…but because I have been on a tight budget for some time now….I never purchased Jack’s World, even though it’s totally adorable! So it was a total score and I’ll use it and isn’t that what it’s all about. Using products you love and it doesn’t matter if it’s the latest or not. I say that because I can get so caught up in the “newest” product releases and must haves, that I forget about ALL the stuff I do have. Do you know what I mean?

I also used my Lg. scallop EK success punch. Since the paper is double sided I was able to use a 1/6 of a sheet to complete this card and just flipped the DP over for the top and bottom for some visual interest. I also had some fun twine reg. and red…added that extra touch with making it tooo girlie! LOL!

Colored the robot in with Copics and used my glaze pen to make it shine. The final touch was adding some white gel pen hightlights and faux stiching.

It took me longer to type up my blog post about how I made the card, than in actually making it. LOL!

Blog Candy:

I hope you have a super duper Christmas week…can you believe that it’s only 5 days away! Whooo hoo! Are you all ready? I think we are. Of coarse there could always be more we can do…but I have tried to make it a point around our home to enjoy the season – despite the business and slow it down and bring this Christmas season back to the main reason. How about you?

Please share with me how you celebrate the Christmas season? What are some of your favorite family traditions that make you stop a moment and think of what the real reason for the season is?

Out of those who feel like sharing, I will draw one name using random generator on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 for some small blog candy. (I’ll get a picture up soon…..before 12/28) The blog candy will include a small stamp set or two, some fun embellishments and other fun stuff. You won’t be disappointed.

Blessings to you!

Feature Saturday

20 Dec

Wow….I am posting this way late!  Sorry to those of you who follow.

I came across this cool blog called: The Frugalitarian.  Some of you may already know about this….but I didn’t….love, love, love all the ideas on here blog and website.

So go and check it out….it reminds us that …..Cheap can look GOOD and not cheap!  Boho Chic, Eclectic, Shabby Chic, and Vintage are some of my all time favorites.  Decorating, collecting and gift giving are other artistic outlets for me.  I am really not much of a collector….except when it comes to stamping supplies. (LOL!) I haven’t really been into decorating in a while…only because of the cost involved and  I love gift giving and most people do, especially paper crafters – like you!  So this is an extreme fun way to be inspired on a tight budget.  Totally cool!  I’m the type of person who wants to save money….but I don’t like things to look cheap, you know what I mean?  So this website is a total inspiration for me and I hope it is for you too.

Family Front:
Tomorrow we have two Christmas programs and the boys are totally excited!

If you are in the area please come visit. Love to see you there!

Samuel will be a Wiseman in the morning and apart of the children’s choir in the afternoon. I am so beyond thankful for our Sunday School and Music Directors…they work so hard and so do our kids. I love this time of year, celebrating the birth of our Savior!!! My heart is overwhelmed with the sacrifice and cannot comprehend the unconditional love that God freely gives us. It’s amazing!

Have a wonderful evening and many, many, blessings!!!

Teacher Gifts

17 Dec
I made these cocoa wraps for my boy’s teachers. Well Jeremy informed me this morning that he was tooo old to take teacher gifts. (insert sad face.) That means the extra ones will be for family stocking stuffers.
I love the button snowman that I’ve been seeing.  So I decided to make a few of my own…They are sooo cute!  All the sentiments are handwritten.  I felt it gave it that extra homey touch .
A close up of one of my favorites.
I received a bunch of Christmas 3D images from my cousin for my birthday and decided to use them…they were perfect for this project and made it extra simple!
Here is the last batch….I made a few more, but didn’t think you’d like to see them, cause there are so many to look at as of now and you get the point…LOL!
I am off to take my kids to school.  Have a super great day!
Many Blessings,

I’ve been gone way tooo long!

16 Dec
Good Afternoon!  I haven’t posted in what seems like weeks.  It’s only been one week..but feels like forever.
I received some beautiful Birthday RAK cards this month.  (I did receive a total of 3 cards and the 3rd one is missing because I used it already and didn’t take a photo of it.  Sorry!)
This first card is from Jeanne Collins.  Isn’t is awesome?!!?!!
This card is from Barbra Deichl, SCS – Barbaralynn. How fun! Love all the details.
Thank you ladies for thinking of me and sending me BEAUTIFUL Birthday cards and wishes!
Blessings to you,

Birthday Card

10 Dec

Good Morning!!!  I hope you are having a super splenderific kind of morning!

My battery died this morning….UGH!  Good thing we went out early to start the car…and as you already know…it didn’t start.   Just got back from getting a brand new car battery.  We should be set now for a WI winter.

The boys have their Christmas programs tonight and they are sooo excited!   The only hard part is one starts at 6p and the other at 7:30p at two different schools…UGH!  Why couldn’t they pick two different days.   I know I am not the only parent that has a child in elementary school  and one in middle school…that is insane timing…LOL!!!

I am blessed to have my family all around us, so they’ll split up between the boys…because I will be late getting to Jeremy’s program since Samuel’s doesn’t end until 7:00-7:15p.  Jeremy understands and isn’t too disappointed.  He knows that we didn’t make the silly schedule. =)

Enough on the home front.  The card above is one that I made for Kay-Kay she turend 14 years old (makes me feel OLD! lol!) a few days ago…I know I shouldn’t use her childish nickname…but I can’t help it.   I drew the image sometime at the end of last year or beginning of this year and finally made a card.  It was perfect for her birthday.  I also used Kim Hughes stamps set from CHF for the HB sentiment.

Hope you enjoy and have a blessed day!
