Sugar Creek Hollow Saturday

29 Jan
Good Morning!
Today is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and that means a new challenge.  Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and chances are good you need a few cards for that occasion so we want you to make a Valentine’s Day card but we want you to try your hand at a VINTAGE VALENTINE.

Each week we will choose one random winner, who will receive a free digi of their choice from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe and a badge to display on your blog.  If you use a Sugar Creek Hollow image you will get two entries in the random draw.  Just follow the instructions on the sidebar to link your second entry.

Each week the Design Team will choose a Card of the Week and the creator of that card will get a badge to display.  One overall winner will be chosen each month from the Cards of the Week.  That person will be invited to be a Guest Designer and participate in the next challenge.  An image will be provided to them to work with.  The Card of the Week prize will be given when we have a minimum of 10 entries.

Now…before we get into our challenge I want to share a “New Image Reveal” with you.  This is our new “Get-Well” Vintage label and I was privileged enough to be able to showcase it with you.

I printed this adorable image on Vintage Cream CS from PTI, distressed the edges with some Vintage Photo distress ink, added some Country Crinkle ribbon from Sugar Creek Hollow and placed it on a 4bar size grey card base.

I loved how it turned out.  I am going to be making this into a little encouragement book for a friend who is fighting with some heath issues.  Once it’s complete I will post the finished product and how I created it.

Please check out the Sugar Creek Hollow Blog for more details concerning this weeks challenge and then check out the rest of the DT for some AMAZING creations that is sure to get your creative juices flowing.

Thanks for stopping by and many blessings,

Mary

Our Design Team Challenge for this week is “ANYTHING BUT A CARD.” My “Anything
But a Card” project today  is a gift bag.  I needed another set of Super simple Valentines bags for the children in our family.  I started out by choosing this  adorable image from High Hopes called, Ton of Love Ellie. I mean seriously how stinkn’ cute is she?  So cute! I colored her with Copic markers.

I cut the image in a 3.5″ circle, a larger 3.75″  grey circle was used and in the very back you can see a doily sticking out.  To finish off the project I used some yummy crinkle ribbon and kraft bag from my Etsy shop.
The DEETS:
Amy is offering a $20 gift certificate to one hopper today that completes the
hop, so be sure to leave a comment on all of the Design Team’s blogs to have a
chance to win! Play along with us in our challenge and you could win a $5 gift
certificate to Paper Romance too!

Next up on the hop is Ria’s blog. You will love what she has made!

Today’s Sugar Creek Hollow challenge is “Fabric”.  We are suppose to use fabric in our card.  I had some Dear Lizzy fabric paper.  I added some vintage photo distress inks to the edge.  I love the aqua color and decided to add a splash of red with the ribbon, flowers and buttons.  Super simple yet a sweet vintage card for a dear friend of mine.

The stamp I used is from the Valentine’s release.  There are so many vintage images that are so yummy.

Make sure that you visit the DT, you will find a ton of inspiration and the Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge Blog.

Day 14
I have been doing lots of cooking and baking lately.  I am using all organic ingredients.
The banana bread that is pictured in day 10, is my own experimental recipe.  There is no fat or processed sugar.
I used applesauce instead of butter and Agave nectar instead of sugar.  It was a HUGE hit with my family and I was able to share a loaf with one of my besties and her family liked it. I made a total of three loafs and within 24 hours my boys ate two loafs. LOL!  I am glad that they loved it.  I served it warm and with a little butter.  Yummo!   I think next time I’m going to use almond extract instead of vanilla.  Because Almond enhances the flavor of fruit a lot more than vanilla. I’ll be sharing the recipe for the banana bread soon.
The photo with the carrots, kale and potatoes (day 13) are french fingerlings, the potatoes that is.  The boys loved the purple in the potatoes, too fun.  The soup was uber yummy too. =)  And it freezes very well.  The soup is definitely not fat free. LOL!  Yes, you see cream. =)
Well that’s all for now….I ‘m loving a photo a day and editing them.  I am able to practice my photoshop skills daily and that was my main goal.  I am loving all of the Adjustments palette, levels, vibrance, hue/ saturation, so ok…all of them. PW also has free Actions and they rock!  Just in case you weren’t aware.
Pioneer Woman’s Flickr group has so many amazing photographers being showcased with her challenges.  This has been a HUGE inspiration to me. They are AMAZING photographers, serious eye candy peeps! I mean seriously! PW’s blog is full of fabulous inspiration. Just in case you didn’t know that already. Yep, that’s right I am a total enabler.

You’re Welcome.

Blessings,
Mary
