Gina K – Blog Hop

20 Nov

Well I love, love, love Gina K Designs stamps. I use them all the time and a lot of the time, I don’t get photos of them because I make gifts and use them up quickly. My family hordes all the cards that I make with my Gina K stamps! It’s too funny and very sweet that they love me so much.

My aunt and some of our family friends, that I make cards for – don’t even use the cards. LOL! They display them around their house and my cards have become part of their decorations. Well that is soooo flattering. I am blessed with such sweet, kind and supportive family and friends.  Make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Well I saw this month over that Gina K is having their first every customer Blog Hop and I HAVE to be a part of that! So I made a set of Christmas cards using the new and totally awesome stamp set from Nina Brackett call Vintage Borders…I mean seriously-when I saw the previews of this set….I said to myself “Where have you been ALL my life?!!??” LOL! I know that’s a little dramatic – but I can be that way sometimes. (Some of you know that already…LOL!)

This stamp set is a must have and I find that it’s becoming a fast favorite already. It has never left my sight….it’s on my work table along with a few of my other stamping staples. The stamp set is full of trendy images – scallops, and scallops with grid, sheet music… (Seriously how stinkn’ cool is the sheet music!!! I don’t know about you but those few patterned paper pack that have the sheet music, I horde and only use bits and pieces – afraid I’ll run out. I hope I am not the only weird-o that does that…LOL!) Well I don’t have to horde anymore because I can make my own sheet music patterned paper now with this stamp set. Tooo cool!

Sharing my Thoughts:
Christmas is my favorite time of year!  We get to celebrate the birth of my Savoir – Jesus Christ!!!  I love the smells, sights, sounds and memories of  Christmas.  And having kids always make Christmas even more special.
I am making an advent Calendar this year. (When I get it done – I’ll show you and have some directions for you too, if you want to make your own.)
I am going to have a little twist on our advent calendar.  We’ll have not only the traditional piece of candy & symbols of Christmas (like the manger, animals, shepards, angel, etc.)  but we will have the opportunity to give thanks for everything we have.  This has been a rough year for so many people and being laid off myself, we have had our share of ups and downs…but through it all GOD has blessed us.  GOD has meet our every need and even exceeded our needs and has blessed us beyond measure.  So I think it is only fitting that we Celebrate Christmas by giving GOD thanks for everything he has done and for who He is.

We are also going to sponsor a family this year.  There are so many people that are going through such a rough time and we have been so blessed that I have asked the boys to sponser a family for my Birthday present this year (My Birthday is Dec. 8) and when I shared with them my desire to bless others as my gift, they were on board and only had a few questions.  What an awesome teachable moment that was.  I love those times and cherish those moments.

Ok – sorry for rambling on….but hey it is my blog…LOL!!!

Cowboy Pocket

18 Aug

Isn’t this Cowboy Pocket adorable? I just posted this in my Etsy Shop and the best part, there is FREE SHIPPING on this item. This is an up cycled Denim Pocket from a pair of Aeropostale jeans.

I used Gina K Designs stamps (called Cowboy Up) to decorate the pocket. Love this set!!! The cowboy boots are not showing all the way in the photo…sorry. Each item was hand colored with Copic markers and I added a twine rope to the pocket.

The insides of the pocket are filled with J&J Baby wash, wash cloth, handmade pair of baby mock crocs, and an adorable mini Boyds Bear.

I have some fun encouraging stories to share with you and will be back later this week.

Thanks for stopping by and many blessings!

Wedding Saturday!

6 Jun

I hope you are having a super duper Saturday! This Saturday my best friend’s son got married. The wedding was beautiful and modern. I have been working on some small projects for them. It was a lot of fun and they were so appreciative and so sweet about it. They are a beautiful couple and God’s hand is upon their life!

This is the card that I made them. I followed the Sketch from Gina K Designs, Stamp TV. Awesome sketch! I scored some envelopes for $ 0.50 (25 envies in each package) at my local Sears Grand store that is going out of business. You can’t beat that! The sizes are a little different, but hey that’s cool with me! This card measures 7″ x 3.75″. Anyways….back to the awesome sketch….make sure you check out Gina K’s, StampTV. The stamps I used are from Cornish Heritage Farms.

This is the gift I made them. It’s a dollar frame from Michael’s. I white washed the whole frame, front and back. I did this so that some of the wood grain would show through. Then I painted some swirly like thingies. Their main wedding colors where Turquoise and Apricot. I used some Turquoise in the frame and I had to use my favorite green from Ranger called Lettuce. I wanted the frame to look shabby, folk arty, and home spun like feeling….I think I accomplished that….part of me wants to re due it….but I can’t because I already gave it to them at the wedding today. I used PTI’s Life stamp set. So, what do you think?

The Bride asked me to a few scrapbook pages for her guest book. She used a 12 x 12 scrapbook for her guest book. I thought that was a totally awesome and unique idea. So every other page was left blank, the guest enjoyed a few pictures of the couple and they were able to share their warm encouraging thoughts with the couple. Now I normally don’t scrapbook, but I am totally loving it. I can see more and more scrapbook pages in the future of my boys. That is a goal of mine for this summer is to take some fun pictures of the boys and scrap our summer together. Please share your thoughts with me about my layouts. (Some of the pictures of the pages have glare on the photos, because I used my flash…whoops! and I can’t retake the photos….)
Thanks for reading about our busy last few days…..It was beautiful being a small part of their special day!
Many Blessings!

Nika’s Birthday Card

2 Jun

My cousin’s daughter, Ahnika (AKA Nika), turned 5 years old last week!

A short story to go along with the card…

It started at my eldest son’s birthday party in March of this year. My Cousin gave Jeremy money for his birthday and Nika was so upset, because money isn’t a real present! “You can’t gift wrap money, you can’t play with money…money isn’t a real present”, Nika kept saying. We kept reassuring her that 12 year old’s like receiving money and not toys. She didn’t understand….it was too cute! Nika was convinced that Jeremy was jipped on his Birthday present, because he didn’t have any presents to open.

Well fast forward to May of this year. Nika was asking us to buy her some super duper cupcake maker at Wal-Mart for her birthday…..well we did, but we had a little fun with her first. (I know, I know a little cruel but, lots of fun! LOL!)

I made Nika this birthday card, notice the cupcake. Then we wrote inside the card, that we were very sorry that we couldn’t get her the cupcake maker. But we wanted to give her a “real” present and we put (5) – one dollar bills inside.
Oh….it was funny…you should have seen her little face. She was so sure we bought her the cupcake maker, once we convinced her that we didn’t and all she was getting was money, she tried so very hard not to show us that she was disappointed….(insert an ahhhh, how sweet. She did very well at not showing her disappointment to much….it was sweet.)
Now we are not totally cruel…..we then sent her on a treasure hunt with 2-4 clues to find her “real” present. She said, “I knew Auntie bought me the cupcake maker!” She was very happy that she got a “real” present!
A little bit of family fun!
Have a great day and many blessings!

Onesies….anyone?

26 May

Like I mentioned in my previous post, several of my family members and friends are having babies. I am so excited for them. But there is a downer to all these babies in our family…..there’s not enough money to buy lots and lots of presents for them……so that gives me the opportunity to become resourceful.
I have tons of ink and stamps and for under $10 and a little bit of time, I can personalize some onesies and crochet booties that are from the heart and coordinate perfectly. Plus I can make some beautiful cards to go along with all the gifts we make.
It has also become a family project in making gifts. My boys are having fun helping me plan different themes….so we get to spend even more quality time together as well….and I love that! Squeeze that quality time in as much as possible, there can never be enough quaility time with my boys, in my opinion. They won’t be this age forever…..I want to enjoy them and each season with them. In the business of life it is sometimes hard to remember to cherish our time with our kids. And at times it’s even harder to refocus our priorities.
I love my babies and am so thankful to God for them. Even through the rough times of parenting. And by the rough times, I am refering to the new season of 12 years that I’ve entered. I mean what happened to the hormones kicking in when they are “teenagers”. Seriously I have still have 1 year before he is a 13 year old….Come on….hormones and mood swings already!!?!?!?! Doesn’t he know that his hormones have to wait a year! Talk about unprepared for this season.
We are making it through and I am praying for my 12 year old during these next few trying years. He has to face so much in this world. I pray that God wraps his loving arms around him and keeps his heart and mind fixed on Jesus and not on the things of this world. He has to face peer pressure and all kinds of things that I never had to deal with at his age. I know God is with him and when he makes mistakes, my prayer is that he will learn from each of them and that they will become the building blocks of his character. Ok enough about that….wow, unsure where all that came from, thanks for listening.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!
Many Blessings,
Mary

Sweetest Blessings – Onsie

24 Mar

Good Morning! I thought I’d share with you a onsie I made using the Sweetest Blessings stamp set from Gina K Designs.
I have seen many people use their Copics to color images on onsies and shirts. So I thought I’d give it a try and it was a little harder to get use to since I was coloring on fiber instead of paper. So there was a little color bleeding on some of the treads, but not to bad. You really have to start from the inside of your project and move out.
Puffy paint is soooo much fun! I used Liquid Applique on the top of the cupcake and heat set it. Then I colored it roughly with my pink Copic marker.
Overall I think it turned out pretty good.
A lot of my friends and family will be having babies this fall and they are all getting some onsies, among other fun baby stuff. LOL!
I’ve been creating some new things to send to my sister in Washington and my two precious nieces. I hope to get everything photographed to share with you. And get their package shipped to them very soon. (poor thing is having to wait on me…)
I hope you have a super fantabulous week!
Many Blessings,
Mary

Hugs and Smiles for you day!

17 Mar

I made a set of misc cards for my Auntie Kaskfey (Kathy) for her Birthday earlier this month. Well her Birthday was earlier this month and she received her Birthday presents late….Whoops.
I just lovey the Lemon Tart CS from Paper Trey Ink. It is one of my new favorite colors. I also used a scrap of DP from the new Basic Grey line called Porcelain.
I used the pie image from my first illustrated stamp set called “Sweetest Blessings” by Gina K Designs, along with the sentiment from Tag lines. Tag lines is one of my all time favorite sentiment sets now. There are so many fun and playful sentiments in this set.
Thanks for stopping by today and have a super fantabulous day!
